About this Plugin

Automatically sets the featured image (post thumbnail) to the first <img> found inside the post content body when a post is saved and no featured image has been manually chosen. Entirely non-destructive — it never overwrites a thumbnail that already exists. Includes a bulk-scan tool to backfill existing published posts.

Installation

  1. Download the plugin ZIP file using the button on this page.
  2. Go to WordPress Admin → Plugins → Add New.
  3. Click Upload Plugin and select the downloaded ZIP.
  4. Click Install Now then Activate Plugin.
