Install the app
Add it to your store from the install link. The admin opens embedded inside Shopify, built with Polaris so it looks native.

Turn on the app embed
Open your theme editor, find WhatsApp Chat under App embeds, and toggle it on. This is what puts the button on your storefront.

Add your number
Enter your WhatsApp number with country code, write the pre-filled message, and set the button colour, size and offset.

FAQ
Questions before you install
Do I need WhatsApp Business API for this?
No. The button opens a normal WhatsApp conversation on the customer's device — it works with a standard WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business number. You only need the Business API if you want automated sending, templates or broadcasts.
Will it edit my theme files?
No. It installs as an app embed, which Shopify renders at runtime. Your Liquid templates are never modified, so there is nothing to undo if you remove the app or switch themes.
Which themes does it work with?
Any Online Store 2.0 theme, which covers Dawn and every current free and paid theme. App embeds are a platform feature, so it is not tied to a particular theme's markup.
Does it slow my store down?
The button is a small script with no external framework and no tracking. It is the same engineering approach as our WordPress plugins — minimal work on the page, nothing loaded that isn't used.
